Marion Rose's 124.50 lb. Cubera SnapperGet Lit Earns Another Sailfish Tournament Win

Captain Quinton Dieterle of Get Lit and the rest of the crew walked away winners this past weekend at the Sailfish Pro Series K-Rock Classic. The team caught and released 30 sailfish over the two-day tournament, using Penn Custom 16 VS Reels and 20-pound Stren Stamina tipped with Stren Tinted Fluorocarbon leaders. With the victory, Get Lit earned a nice payout totaling $52,000.

“I cannot say this enough. Penn reels and Stren line are the ultimate combo when it comes to big water fishing,” said Dieterle. “The quality and durability in each product is worth its weight in gold. As long as Get Lit continues to use Penn and Stren we will be in the hunt every single tournament.”

Finishing in a close second place was the Freedom, led by Penn pro staffer Ray Rosher. Freedom caught and released 20 sailfish during the two-day event.

Braided line ready, the Penn International series gives the saltwater angler Dura-Drag washer that virtually eliminate hesitation, even under the strain that braided lines put on a reel. Equipped with a patented Quick Shift two-speed system, the Penn International V easily shifts into high or low gear. Four ball bearings give the angler the smoothest performance in saltwater. Penn International Reels are available in five sizes – 16VS, 30VSW, 50VSW, 70 VS and 80 VSW – to accommodate any saltwater fish.

Stren Stamina offers serious saltwater anglers the power and abrasion resistance needed to last through any fight. Whether you are targeting stripers in New England or sailfish in Miami – Stamina stands up to any challenge. Available in 10 – 100-pound test, Stamina is available in clear coral and Hi-Vis Gold. Stren Tinted Fluorocarbon leaders have a unique tinted finish that blocks any shine or light piping. Stren Tinted Fluorocarbon Leaders are available in 10- to 80-pound test and a color range to match almost any water condition.

George Mitchell and the crew of the Snake Dancer celebrate a win at the second annual Southern Kingfish Association Palm Beach 440 event Captain Quinton Dieterle Leads Team Get Lit To Victory

Get Lit, owned by Miami angler Kit Toomey and Captained by Quinton Dieterle, angled their way to a first place finish at the 2010 Cheeca Lodge Presidential Sailfish tournament in Islamorada, Fla., this past week using 12-pound Stren Stamina spooled on a Penn 16VS International reel.

Dieterle guided Kitt Toomey of Coral Gables, Peter Miller of Pinecrest and Jon Cooper and Cap Hinckley of Miami to a total of 20 sailfish releases.

“This was a great team win for Get Lit along with Penn and Stren,” said Toomey. “We stand by our equipment and have had excellent success with all the Penn and Stren products that we fish. The win gives us a momentum builder for the upcoming tournaments.”

Champions Again

March 11th, 2010

This past weekend our pro team Get Lit proved to be champions again, in the Pro Series (K rock Classic Billfish Tournament) Capt Quinton Dieterle, Capt Jon Cooper, Capt Cap Hinkely, anglers (A) Kit Toomey (B) Peter Miller

And angler  (D) Claudio Martinez And Camera Man Kelly Mayo Managed to catch 27 Sailfish on Saturday to win the Daily and hold on to the victory. With 30 Sailfish in two days the Get Lit not only won this tournament but moved up to 2nd place in the Pro Series. The team took home over $50,000.  And after all the stress and fun we had Cap and I are ready to jump back on the Cutting edge this week. Fishing has remained good, with Sailfish dominating the action. Though some Dolphin and nice Kingfish are making a showing.  Most of the action is located off key biscayne and south. The fish have been tailing in the right conditions and when not tailing up tight, 100 to 140 ft of water. The fish are hungry for Sardines and Threadfins. Tight Lines and hope to hear from you all. Lets go fishing!

Sailfish Tailing

March 3rd, 2010

The last weekend of fishing was exiting and productive. It was the kind of fishing we fish for. TAILERS….. That is when you chase the fish on the surface that are surfing south. You need a nice swell and a good north wind. Sunday they were tailing. We saw at least 10 fish on the top in one bunch. They are usually slow to bite when tailing but when they do it is like your first girl. Amazing!!!
We caught 7 sailfish that day and 5 the day before. Yesterday we had just 2 but only fished an hour.
The fish were all in 100 to 150 ft off miami. We used all 16vs penn international reels and stamina 15 pound line. Check back soon and i promise i will keep up with my reports. I know this yr has been so busy and i have slacked on writing the reports but I will stay on it. UPDATE****** We now have upgraded our Reels from the standard 20 internationals to the new PENN 16VS. It is smooth as silk.file:/

Good day with old customer

December 22nd, 2009

Tom Rogan a long time client of the Cutting Edge had another great day on monday afternoon. With the weather on the cold side, and the wide blowing a light 10 knots it was perfect for Sailfishing. We needed some food fish and found some dolphin on the edge, Several in the 5 pound class and one 18 pounder. It made for some good action but the best was still to come. With the kites out we found a slight edge in 200 ft. The left long went down and a sailfish came up. After a 20 minute battle the 40 pound sailfish was released. We then left to run to a area i thought might hold more fish. On the way mate Cap saw a free jumper off our side. We slowed down and pitched several baits out and had three bites. We caught two out of that. We then moved south a bit and set up the kites. Not long and we were hooked up to another sail. After that battle was over, we set up and as the sun was setting we had the bonus bite. Another Sailfish which we fought to the boat before the hooked pulled. Tough lose but a great day. 6 Dolphin and 4 out of  6 Sailfish. Not bad for an afternoon.

Tight lines
